Need Help with monitor

I recently purchased a 19" Hitachi SuperScan Elite 751 Refurbished monitor. Everything is working great so far, the colors are good, the quality is excellent. One minor problem is occuring though. On white backround with the contrast low there seems to be a series of about 1-2mm lines (100 or so) but they are not so apparent. If i knew how to upload a picture i would upload a paint drawing of the lines. They are dull and grey. However, when i put the contrast up they seem to 'disappear.'

Can anyone help me out?

THANKS

no it is just a serial (or parallel whatever it is called) port cable that came with the monitor...only one wire, no extension

Maybe spaces between rows of pixels that you're seeing? Get close and hold up a magnifying lens and they're sharp - move back to normal viewing range and they disappear as the pixels appear to merge.

they are lines...the dot pitch is .24 so i doubt i can see the pixels...anyway...the lines go in a wavy pattern
somebody help please
