NEED HELP WITH MONITOR

I have an Iiyama 19" monitor and the brightness keeps going in and out like it is flashing almost and the picture is smaller than it should be. I would try switching monitor cables but the cord cannot be removed. I already sent an e-mail for an RMA but I was wondering if I should try anyhting else first. It is the monitor and no tthe vid card. Please PM me if you have suggestions.
