I have 19 inch LCD monitor made by Acer adn sold to me OEM by a company called Amkotron. The monitor just died recently after having it for about 8 months. At first it just went blank but the power light was still on, so i let it sit for a day. I turned it on again after lettin it sit and it comes on with a picture but when i do anything that involves my gfx card is slows down and gets all blurry (i.e. counterstrike). So i turn it back off and put it n my dads computer untill i can get it fixed but now it wont give me a picture again so it seems its havin trouble powerin up. It hasnt given me a picture for almost a week now and need to get it fixed. Heres the big problem. Acer wont touch it cuz its under Amkotrons name. Ok that makes sense. I call Amkotron and they say send it to em in California nd they dont know how long it will take. I look on the Amkotron web site and theres a spot in Ohio which is closer to where i live, so i call them up and the guy says they only take samsung parts in Ohio, while on their site it says send all samsung parts to California (not the brightest company). So i call California bck up and ask if i can get a time estimate and who will pay for it, she says the warranty is with Acer and that they dont have any parts so it will take a long time. So i asked if they were orderin anymore parts and she has no idea (btw only one person answers the phone in both Ohio and California so im stuck with the same 2 dumb people). So i call Acer back up and they say that no there is no warranty under Acer and they cant do anything to help me. They say they dont even repair that type of monitor (i dont understand how they cant seein as they made it). So heres my question do i send it to Amkotron risking to never see it again or not even get repaired after sending it in, or do i search around locally to find a good place that will do it like best buy or something of that sort? If i do send it locally how do i ensure that im not gonna have to pay for it because Amkotron and Acer both deny the warranty? If anyone has any suggestions about what to do or know of any companies that are reliable and can fix my monitor I would greatly appreciate it. BTW the monitor is a model FP855 if that means anything to anyone. Thanks for your help.

I would be very surprised if you ever got that monitor back after sending it for repair. You would probably get the run around for ever.
Small computer companies usually have very slim margins and will give any number of reasons why they can't refund or repair stuff.

That being said, you will probably spend more on repairing that monitor than just replacing it with a cheap 19 inch.

I repaired a 17 inch monitor that was having similar problems. I opened it up and reflowed the solder on all the boards that I could get to.
Basically, touched the soldering iron to every connection until the solder melted. In the process I found a few of the high voltage connections
were poorly soldered. It has been working like a charm for 2 years since the repair.

Good luck.
