Need help with memory configuration

I am building a rig based on the Asus A8N-SLI. It will be used for general computing and gaming. I have a few questions.

1. Is 1 gig enough memory these days or should I go with 2?

2. What is the best way to configure the chips with the dual channels on this mobo? Assuming for the moment that I go with one gig, am I better off using two 512s in one channel or four 256s in both channels.

3. I am planning on going with corsair memory. After I get it set up and stable, I would like to try OCing this rig. (This will be my first time) The mobo specs for memory are "Dual-channel DDR400/333/266" Will I be able to take advantage of something faster, say the recently reviewed Corsair 4400C25?

4. Any other suggestions about selecting memory for this mobo?

TIA

1. It should be ok. Though getting more may be a good idea if you want to splurge. I have been running a gig for a little over a year now and I have some games that get real close to it.

2. Try to go with two sticks instead of 4.

3. I don't OC so I'll leave that to somebody else.

512mb has been working fine for me. I don't think 2gigs would really benefit you right now as of cost to performance ration. Eventually it will once we have more advanced game. Def. buy a gig.
