A bunch of lawyers now have PocketPC/phones that they use to check email when away from the office. The signature limit on Pocket Outlook is 255 characters (sound familiar?) and they want me to come up with a good disclaimer to put on everyone's PocketPC.

The disclaimer should start with their name, then on the next line the business name, then on the next line our phone number. That alone takes up around 55 characters, but it of course varies with people's names

So, I'm looking to condense this disclaimer down to <200 characters... any ideas?

Company Name intends the information contained in this transmission for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed. This message may contain information that is privileged, confidential, attorneys' work product and/or exempt from disclosure under applicable law. If the reader of this message is not the intended recipient (or the employee or agent responsible for delivering it to the intended recipient), you are hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution or copying of this communication is prohibited. If you have received this communication in error, please notify us immediately at xxx-xxx-xxxx and delete the original message from your e-mail system. Thank you.

I'm guessing that no matter what suggestions are made, the lawyers will have to approve it anyway.

So why don't they just figure it out for themselves? Seriously.

If it was up to me, I'd say:

This message is intended solely for the addressee. It may contain privileged information and it may be exempt from disclosure. If you've received it in error, please call us at xxx-xxx-xxxx and delete the message.

Even better, use one of those slimy website tricks and have your disclaimer say:
Please see our full mail disclaimer at http://www.sitename.com/weaselwords which is incorporated herein by reference.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with kranky. Not sure why the LAWYERS are having a non-lawyer write a legal disclaimer.
