Need help with laptop

Hey guys,

I am looking to purhcase a laptop with a budget around 650-750. I don't mind purchasing a refurbished one either. I was looking into emachines but I don't see many around. I appreciate any help. I want one for checking emails, word processing, music, n movies.

The only two i spotted was the Medion one for $650 on amazon but I'm not sure of the quality of that company. The other was the Acer Travelmate 2303 Wcli.

THanks

i dont like either one. the older acers were junk. dont know abt the newer models. best place to buy used laptops are on anands for sale forum. i probably have purchased at least 15 from this forum and never got a bummer. i only buy IBM or dell. the last one is a hp. well satisified with it.

Sometimes, you can get a nice deal on an entry-level Dell. Not the best (Dell = :\), but for that price, you can't expect much.

hey guys,

after some searching i found this laptop:

Averatec AV5500-EA1 15" Notebook PC (AMD Sempron 2600+ Mobile Processor, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive)

How is the sempron 2600+?

My friend's sister has that notebook and she seems to like it. She's a lite/casual user and it does everything she needs fairly well. It's definitely not a small computer, and wont compare to an IBM T42, but it does the job nicely and for the price it can't be beat by much...
