I applied for one of the jobs in my school's Internet Help Desk... I sent my resume & schedule on Monday morning and I want to be sure that they received it. I only have the email for them, no phone #. So how should I ask? Is the following appropriate?

"Mr. Davis,

I just wanted to be sure that you've received my resume & schedule. If you haven't received my resume & schedule or have any questions regarding my application, please contact me through ******@vt.edu.

Thank You,

well, if you want confirmation, I think you should word your letter differently.

The way it is now, if Mr. Davis received something then he should not respond. But, you would not know the difference between him not getting your resume and not getting your confirmation letter.

If he didn't get the resume in the first place, then it is possible to not get your confirmation letter if it was sent to the same email.

You should make the letter more proactive and ask him to send confirmation that he received your application materials.

AgentEL: I am assuming they received a lot of applications since this is a part time student job, do you think they just decided not to reply back? Maybe I should try to grab their phone number somehow and call them?

Oh yeah, definitely. If you want confirmation and you have a phone number, go for it and call. It's better than just waiting for an email response, which they may or may not feel like sending.

To be honest, calling and asking such questions helps with nothing. I have called atleast 5 places with the same quesitons, and I always got "Yes we recieve it, and are looking into it".
