I am not a programmer, just an user!

I am having a javascript issue. I am running XP pro on PIII. resourses not a problem. My hardware or software config has not changed for a while, except for possibly (?) a couple of games (battlefield demo).

Problem 1. I used to be able to play games at Candystand. As I understand as we get on the webpage, it runs a javascript for animation. When you click on a game (or a link for log in or registration etc), it again runs a javascript, which in turn opens macromedia flash player, which then opens the game. Well, all these used to occur just fine until about a couple of months ago. Now, the website opens without animation, the links do not run the javascript. When I pass the cursor over the link the window in left bottom shows that it is going to run a javascript, but nothing happens:(. I have tried to install, uninstall, reinstall java runtime (latest 1.4 from java), macromedia flash player etc. several times without help:disgust:. When I test any of these component or when installed they are working just fine. At many websites the animation also show. at other websites eg Nabisco I can play many of the same games without problem.

Problem 2. When I log on to workplace from home it goes through secure conncection using citrix client. Along with above problem, I can not log on to work either. I know that citrix is called in (when I click the secondary link for workplace connection) using javascript.

problem 3: This may be unrelated to java. I commonly keep my username and some passwords "remembered" on my computer. When I go to those sites where these usernames (and passwords in some cases) are supposed to be remembered, now, I have to type in these info everytime.:(

I would appreciate any help in this. Thanks a lot in advance.

Okay, first thing to differentiate (since they are both mentioned) is that java and javascript are two different things.

A similar issue happened at work regarding javascript pop-ups, and it turns out that they installed pop-up blockers on all browsers.

There are several companies that make this blocker, but I know it gets installed when either the 'google searchbar' or the new 'yahoo messenger' are installed. I'm not saying this is your case, but turning the popup blocker off (temporarily) resolved our issues at work, since the product we use, does use both java and java-script to pop up windows.

Was any security settings changed on the browser such as any settings under

Tools --> Internet Options (either under privacy or advanced), or has any new software such as anti-virus or firewalls been placed on your PC?

Thanks for the quick reply. Nope, no yahoo messenger or google searchbar installed (that I can see or know) I do have norton internet security running, but that has not changed in months. I also have adaware and spybot installed, again not new. But just to take that variable out, I have uninstalled these spyware detectors and also disabled norton, but no difference.
