O, I bought a iFX-14 ThermalRight cooler from a guy on another board, he doesn't have the mounting brackets for it, or the backside cooler. I need to know if anyone can compare the 775 mounting kit, or some other mounting kit that would work for this cooler on an Intel 775 motherboard.

Funny enough, I did, but since I didn't buy it from one of their retailers, they refuse to help me get the parts to mount it, even though I was going to buy a HR-03 for my VGA, at the moment I refuse to support them in any way, shape or form, I am going to contact them again on Monday, and talk to someone other than a support tech, and see if I can interest them in making a new customer, or not.

I was hoping someone knew of another bracket that would mount the cooler with the generic back plate they do actually sell.

iFX-14s don't work anyway!

If it was me, I'd use it for a wind chime or something...

All joking aside, why would you buy something like that?

Not picking a fight - just curious...

Was it the advertising?

Why would I buy a cooler that gets great reviews for half the retail price from a friend? Hmmmm....

I guess a better question is why would you bother posting something so useless? Is it your post count?

No...

Seriously, can you point to any neutral or positive reviews of the IFX-14?

It seems largely orphaned, even by the Thermalright sock puppets... an embarrassment!

And do you know which brackets can be used to mount it aside from the specific ones it comes with? Or do you just talk shit?

The backside cooler doesn't work - period!

Besides that, there isn't one case in a 100 that the backside cooler fits, so just throw it away...

What other brackets did your 'friend', so called, fail to send you?

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, you know?

Forget the IFX-14! You're probably the only guy in the universe that owns one!

Personally, I'd kick your buddy's ass for selling you half a cooler and look for a real 'friend', and it ain't Thermalright, obviously! :D

More none information? I am old and all, let me check the title of the thread again....

Nope, it doesn't say anything about what's your opinion, it asked which bracket, if you don't know, than say so and move on, I am not interested in your opinions, they mean nothing.

Hate to tell this, being Christmas and all, but...

I'm NOT doing this for you - to you - or anything else! I don't even know you, or like you, for that matter...

I'm sorry that your 'friend' screwed you, and Thermalright left you in the lurch, but it's a lesson learned, no?

I'm just trying to prevent some other poor n00b from making the same mistake. ;)

That's what public forums are for...

Look at their point of view; you bought it from a so-called friend who had all the parts, but didn't ship them to you, now you expect Thermalright to give you the parts you need??

You forget to realize that what you need is the entire mounting kit;
The back plate
2- top brackets plus screws that you attach to the studs that poke thru the motherboard
the center top bracket plus two spring loaded screws.

Not to mention that NONE of these items are listed for sale on their web site.

It sounds as if you got from your friend exactly what you paid for. It would not surprise me that IF they agreed to SELL you the parts you need the cost plus shipping, will wipe out what you thought was a great deal.

This thread isn't about anyones opinion, or ThermalRight having the parts for sale, it is asking if anyone has ever used any other bracket to mount the cooler, and if so which one. It isn't asking what you think of my heatsink, it isn't asking if I got a good deal, it isn't asking for reviews of the cooler. Is it so hard to just not post if you do not have the information being asked for?

hey, you asked about the mounting hardware, and I told you (I own an IFX-14) AND THERE ISN'T ANY OTHER MOUNTING HARDWARE.

You problem is you got screwed by a friend and now you are all bent out of shape because Thermalright won't let you screw them. Grow up!

First off, I am not "bent out of shape", so don't ASSume anything, second, I knew it didn't come with the hardware when I bought it, third, I only posted this thread to ask if anyone had used hardware other than the supplied hardware to mount theirs. I do not care that ThermalRight decided not to supply hardware for it, all that made me do is decide to use any number of the hundreds of other products out there when I need a new cooling solution for something. Besides, making a bracket is not hard if you have half a brain, but I thought I'd check if there was another solution first.

So how about if you don't know of other hardware that will work, you grow up, and keep you comments to youself. Why are there so many idiots on the interent?

Do u have an other hardware from heatsinks you had before?
I "recycle" all those mounting parts from old heatsinks I had. (like the mounting plates from TT silent tower are used for backplates on mine TR120UE in main comp and for other comp I have)

All you really need is some sort of socket 775 backplate and a metal plate with a hole in the middle to align with the top of the heatsink base, and a few screws.
This heatsink doesn't look all that bad anyways, just get two fans on it, or mount a fan in the middle and it should work reasonably well.

god dayam people. stop telling him about his cooler and give him advice.

Dude the guy is asking a simple question can he get another form of back-plate to remount this sink.

The answer i believe to this is NO... Sorry op, i was giving it some thought. You NEED a backplate for that monster sink. No backplate = warping on the board gaurentee'd.

You cant micky mouse a sink that large. You need to have your friend call thermalright, and request new mounting setup. OR id smack your friend upside the head for selling you a sink which HE would know straight up if you could install or NOT with the missing hardware. Not much of a friend... more like an ASS to me, trying to get rid of broken shit.. Kinda like on Ebay, when you see AS IS, NOT TESTED....

OP, mind if I ask why the guy who sold you the IFX-14 had no mounting hardware or backside cooler to sell you?
