I don't use IE except for Windows Update and for Panda's online scan. I have Panda's website in my trusted zone and it loads fine with the green check mark at the bottom notating a trusted zone.

When I went to scan today, I got the Informational toolbar stating that my settings won't allow an ActiveX control to load.

My setting for the Trusted Zone is at Medium-Low. Also, in Pop-up Blocker Settings, I have Panda's website listed as an allowed site.

I had no problems scanning at Panda's site in the past. The only recent change I've made was adding mvp.org's HOSTS.

Suggestions...?

Yeah, but that's another problem. I didn't back up the original hosts file when I installed HOSTS. It is backed up on a DVD (Nero) or I'd have to try and extract it from the XP CD, if possible.

Okay - second question - could I copy the HOSTS file on my Win2k to the WinXP?

hehe I'm not going to answer your question.

Instead, open the hosts file with notepad and see what you're dealing with

Hey Smilin!

I was trying to do an online scan at Panda's website and was getting nowhere with it. I finally was able to solve the mystery. I had the main url for the site in the Trusted Zone - turned out that I had to add three more (found this out after I emailed Panda and they replied with a link listing the other three url's).

So, mystery solved - need the main url, 3 other url's, and a partridge in a pear tree...;)

Thanks for the reply.
