Hello all, i recently bought a logitech g5 and im thouroughly impressed. My previously mouse was a microsoft intellimouse 3.0 i believe, and this thing makes it look like ****. The only problem i have now, is that the thumb button (back button) is not registering with games. With firefox and explorer it works fine as the default back command. But ive gone through the drivignb and everyhting and still cant figuere out why my games arent recognizing it. Please help me.

Yeah I had that problem. Apparantly it's an issue with the logitech software. Try changing the button from "back" to "generic button". You'll have to alt-tab to the app from the game to do this, and you will have to do it every time you load the game. Or uninstall the POS software.

wait, i just changed it to generic and it works! it registered with the game and it still functions as a back button. Now what about the left/right scroll buttons???

there is something you can change it to that makes it work. You need to up the sensitivity. Unfortunately there is no sensitivity notch that isn't "so slow it goes 1 pixel at a time" and "so fast it warps from edge to edge".

When I first purchased my g5, I noticed that the thumb button would work with games that I had previously mapped it to with my Intellimouse. This was before installing the setpoint 2.4 software. Othera than games however it would not function until I installed the software.

After a restart, everything was a-ok. Actually quite like that thumb-button, and even though I probably won't stick with the g5, I have a greater appreciation for those additional inputs on mice.

Yeah Logitech has always been a pain to get the buttons set up just right in many software apps and games. For the life of me I cant figure out why, I mean surely Logitech cant be that stupid, standard button placment is a HAVE TO kind of thing when programming a mouse for games. The fact that they do not is just confusing. I never could get BF 1942 setup just right with my MX 700. I mean never, (I liked setting my scroll wheel, when I was in a plane, to change views so I could look back as I dropped bombs. Worked fine with every other mouse, but noooo not logitech. Shame as they make a dang nice product, just stupid programmers.
