For some reason i cannot get this board to take Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB).

I tried up'ing the voltage to 1.9 but no luck! In fact i can only run 1 stick in slot 1, slot 0 doesnt work for me. I get a C1 error which means ram init error.

This is my new board:

This is decent ram why am i having so many issues!?

Aigomorla should be able to help ya with the 780i chipset sames he has counter a few issues with it. My guess is this is just another one. Of course your ram does support up to 2.2v, so you could try increasing it a bit more.

The Tracer modules I see specify 2.2V, not 1.9V. You might try that and see if it helps.

Anyway, it's overrated RAM if you ask me.

Yea i know it is overrated ram. I got it cause it was 'certified' to work 4x1gb sticks in my last MB. I hate the stupid LEDs !

I totally forgot it was 2.2 voltage!!!! I was thinking of some ram i used in another build! I feel stupid now. I will try 2.2 tonight, i bet that will be the trick.

I'm having the same problem with my 780i. Only one stick of 2GB Crucial Ballistix (not tracer) will work and only in the slot farthest away from the CPU. I'm running it at 2.0V which is spec.

I had 4 2GB sticks in there but got nothing but BSOD. All sticks had 0 errors in Memtest unless there was more than one stick installed.

RMA...let's see if a new board will fix it.

Why the need for so much ram? And etrigan, I recommend you run it to 2.1v and see what happens.

No good at 2.1V or 2.2V. Almost instantly BSOD. Anything more than 1 stick is too much.

I've got the same exact problem with EVGA 780i board and Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800Mhz RAM. I've got 2 x 2GB sticks which I set at 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2v. Been running this rig for almost two months, originally I had everything at stock and it worked fine. Overclocked over a month ago: Intel E8400 @ 3.6Ghz, tightened the timings on the RAM (running at 1.8v for a while, then at 2.1v and finally at 2.2v for a few weeks). Running FSB @ 1600Mhz linked/synced with RAM. Everything was running good for a couple of weeks. Then I started having random stalls/freezes. Its started when I was playing Assassins Creed the other night. I had some similar issues when I first put together the rig (at stock speeds) with the PC totally freezing during games. After tweaking things I thought I had fixed it.

Then last night I left the PC alone for a while and when I came back the screen was black and nothing I did would bring it back. This is like the 3rd or 4th time this happened (PC refused to come back from screensaver/power saver mode). Note, I did *not* set it to standby/sleep. It just turns the monitor off after 30 minutes but then the monitor will not return. Anyway, I did a hard reset as there was nothing else left to do. Upon rebooting there was still nothing on the screen at all, plus I hear a loud beep with the "C1" error message. Tried reseting the BIOS jumper and that didn't help. I cannot turn my computer on, the mobo does not POST at all, it just beeps. I am going to try testing the RAM if I can. I read reviews (on new egg) about the Crucial Ballastix RAM being crap and I didn't believe it. It really sounds like its a RAM issue, which is not so bad. Much easier to replace then a busted mobo.
