Need help with DVD-Rom/Software

I have a Creative 12x and a Aopen(rebaged Pioneer)12x DVD-Rom on the same channel but 1 master and 1 slave. Well they both read the DVD fine but when I open WinDVD or PowerDVD(both latest versions) they lock up when trying to load the DVD. What could be the problem? I have them both set to Ultra DMA mode 2.

Could it be where they are on the same IDE channel? I have tried the DVD in each. Some DVD's will load ok. Any suggestions?
 
I think the 2 DVD-ROMs and/or 2 DVD software may be causing the problem. Have you tried having just one of the DVD-ROMs connected to your mobo or maybe uninstalling one of the software DVD players?
