need help with display problems

Hello,

I purchased a Samsung 955DF monitor today and when I am trying to run games (NHL 2000 & Need for speed high stakes) I am getting a minimized version of the full screen on top quarter of the monitor. Then there is a bigger version underneath. It looks very bizarre. everything appears normal when I am in windows and stuff, The video card is a 16mb PCI ATI XPert 128. The game ran fine on my old monitor...same video card. Any ideas what my problem is? Thanks

Oh those ATI cards are a fickle bunch, no?

My brother had a similar problem (not identical) when he tried to install a new ATI radeon 7500 in his new system with his old monitor. Could not get it to work.

Anyway, did you get the latest drivers fot all hardware?

What OS you running?

Happens only with games or even that particular game? What about other apps?

We could use more info to diagnose source of problem!

I'm a friend of his and I tried a lot of things to fix it but nothing worked. He's running Win98 SE and both games he tried to play were EA games. He also tried downloading the latest ATI drivers but the exe wouldn't run. I don't think he has the problem while running apps. He also has directx 8.1 installed. Anyone know of any ATI Xpert 128 PCI card related problems when EA Sports games are played?

Another PCI 16mb Riva TNT (Sound Blaster) wouldn't work on his computer but works on mine(BH6/celeron combo). He has a Gigabye GA-5AX v1.5 with Ali Aladdin chipset. I'm thinking this board might be a piece of crap.

Any ideas guys?

When you changed monitors did you install the Samsung 955DF monitor driver? If not try that.

I have an ATI All In Wonder 128 based on the Rage chip and the one and only time I tried to load and play an EA game, it crashed my system. I assumed it was because of my triple monitor setup but now I'm not so sure.
