Ok, paulsonator.com isn't a real appealing name, but think of this...

Here are the sections (and not limited to):

Webpage - you could help remotely manage my server. Meaning creating users and giving them folders for their webpage (soon it'll be automatic, but for now, it's not.)

Music - If you love music, I'd appreciate the help. This varies from introducing new music you've found or writing up on music that you love. If you do it, you get to do what you want. :)

Tech - Of course, this wont be anything like anandtech (simply because I don't know enough and I'm sure after a while it gets to be complicated if you don't have the money to sample products) We would be linking to most of the major articles on the tech front though. (anandtech is definitely one of them)

Tech Support - Well, basically, this would be script automated, meaning someone would write in a question about a specific type of hardware, and you'd be emailed, and it would have the information of what the product is and what kind of help is needed. (it's expirimental, but who cares :))

Downloads - Eventually I'll either get a t-1 or partner up with someone. I have to actually have some speed to allow downloads to even happen. But, I do need help compiling them, and making the webpages for it. (or content)

Forums - When I get the forums up, I'll need 1 or 2 admins beside myself (to control the stuff) and then I'll need moderators for ever category. (one mod per category)

Links - basically users can log in and send their favorite links, and you would take the links and put the content up on a page (you would just have to put them in the specific areas which would be labeled for the page)

Top Sites - Baseically, when and if the site picks up, I'll need someone to manage a poll every month and put a link to the top site of the month. :)

If you want to help me, PM me, or email me at paulson@paulsonator.com

Thanks :)

I forgot to mention...

For right now, I can't pay :( (specially if I buy a t-1 or more)

But, I can offer you anything on the site. Including your own featured site or me linking to something you want me to...

(sucky, I know, but hey, if we become rich, you never know :))

I think you'll choose the latter. I don't see a 15 year old leasing a T1 line, unless your daddy's one rich motha

goldenbear :)

Mork, it's going to be needed for a successful site.

You can't have a speed issue if you're running a site with potential large amounts of hits...

I don't get it...

Defying what the internet was supposed to be?

So, unless you're not serving up content of any kind, how are you being defiant? Just curious... :)

Unless you have money to burn, start with a shared/virtual account for like $20/month. I don't know where you would get the T1 to or from, but you will need a million impressions a month to have a chance at paying for it with current CPMs. Also, you have to keep in mind why someone would want to visit your site? That is an extremely broad focus, its a lot easier to get hits by doing one thing the best than a bunch of things just okay.

Hmm I realize you weren't asking for suggestions or opinions but I thought I should share some experience. Good luck with the site! :)

Paulson, I'll be glad to write about hip-hop/rap music :) Does this include news, etc?

Oh, I should also note people aren't nearly as willing to contribute for free these days. The problem is so many sites sold out and become commercial, everyone expects money. This also depends on what scene you are in... the more underground and grassroots, the more willing people will be willing to help.

I realize I have high goals and ambitions.

I need to have something to make them work. (in this case help!)

I don't know. I have the idea that one day my site could be accessed millions of times per week, but I could be dreaming. I'd like to think the positive.

I'm trying to have a lot of features in the site so that it gives people a reason to visit and come back. If I can do that, it would be a great achievement.

That's just from my viewpoint. I don't know how I would afford a t-1, but I have to have some better solution for my website.

Yes I agree, I am not trying to put you down or anything, I think it is great to have high goals. :) But there is nothing wrong with starting small and upgrading to a dedicated server when you need it. This will also help you get your foot in the door and give you more insight as to what direction to take your site, what its like getting helpers, realistic traffic projections, advertising revenues, hosting costs... all that fun stuff.

Paulson,

I could set up UBB for you. The best place to look is in your in-house staff ;)

I could also set up VBulletin for you, which is much better, and faster, and it runs on PHP.

Also, Dont be afraid of applying for Paulson's site because you dont know HTML. All you have to know is your way around an input form.

BTW, I am Head Web Developer at Paulsonator.com

If you need help with graphics and layout let me know, I need to brush up anyway. Also, being that I am a musician, I would love to help with the music section. (and anywhere else I can)

Paulsonator.com could also use someone that is good at Coldfusion, because that is the programming language Paulsonator.com will be programmed in
