Need help with cooling problem

I have two identical motherboards both running AMD 1800XP processors. They were bought from Mwave at separate times, one came as a "bare bones". This one came with a different cooler than the other one that I bought as a "motherboard combo". The latter cools well and the CPU fan runs at 4500 rpms or more, whereas the former is hotter (15 degrees hotter, or about 135 c) and only runs at 2700 rpms. Why does this fan run slower and is it defective or just a slower fan? Should I buy a new fan, or heatsink combo or is this temp ok? If so, where is best place and which coolers would work best for me? I do no overclock and I use these systems in business, do not need anything fancy, just good stable cooling.

Thanks.

You sure you got your unit of measurement correct? At 135 C your CPU should be dead, burnt. At 135 F your cpu temps are a bit high, HOWEVER, if your comp is stable right now, you don't need another cooler. Only get another cooler if you are ocing or your comp is unstable.

Yes I meant to say 135 F, not C, thanks. My other motherboard/CPU combo, which is identical except for the cooler, runs 15 degrees cooler, at 120F. Mwave sent them both to me with different coolers. The fan on the cooler one says "AMD" on it, while the fan on the hot one says "CoolerMaster" on it. So 135F is nothing to worry about?

135F is pretty hot, especially if it is the idle temp. How hot does it get under full load? To be safe I'd try to keep it under 50C (122F) at idle. Of course, if your system is stable, it really isn't necessary to change anything.

It's all about stability, if it's stable, there is no need to upgrade the hs. Sure, it might not be anything to brag about, but at least you save some $$$. The only reason why most of the guys here have low temps are: they are trying to oc, or they are temp freaks. Coolermaster makes pretty popular OEM hss, since they do a decent job at a low price.
