Need help with config

This is my first post, so I am sorry if this is not in the correct section. Any help would be appreciated.

I plan on building a computer myself. I am new to this but do have decent computer knowledge.

I have bought the following parts, and want to check if they are all compatible.

Processor - Intel Q6600
Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R
RAM - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2X2GB) 800MHz
HDD - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Cabinet - Antec P180
Power Supply - Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU 500W ATX 12V 2.0 Power Supply 115/ 230 V UL, CUL, TUV, FCC, and CB certification

They should be fine. In the future, wouldn't it make more sense to check compatibility before you buy?

i did check for it through specs but just wanted to make sure anyways before they got shipped.

Thanks for your help

Just a note, that motherboard doesn't have an integrated GPU so you will need a separate video card.

Thanks guys for all your help so far.

Can anyone advise whether I should overclock in this config? does it void my warranty?

I have never overclocked before, so I would appreciate any links on how to over clock.

Also, how much should I overclock by, and what extra cooling do you suggest? Any links of products would be great.

Whether or not you should overclock depends entirely on what you're doing. What's the computer used for?

Multitasking like encoding video while you're editing something in photoshop and folding@home, or multitasking like a couple of chat programs, some firefox tabs, a spreadsheet and some music?

The first will make good use of an overclocked quad, the second won't.

For overclocking a quad you'll probably want an aftermarket heatsink.

I won't be doing any Video editing etc. but I may run games and simultaneously run music, chat, firefox, etc. So I will look for an aftermarket heatsink. Thanks for your advice

I am thinking of buying some hardware to watch TV on my computer.

As mentioned above, I am getting the following motherboard and graphics card.
Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R
PNY GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3 PCIE 2.0

I looked at the specs but did not find anything related to a TV Tuner. My monitor is the
Samsung 2232GW

Do I need to buy something like the PCTV HD Pro to watch TV on my computer, or does my hardware already support watching TV?

Also do you recomment a PCTV HD Pro (USB) or PCTV HD Card?

Thanks in advance.

thanks to all, specially DSF...

Everything in my new PC worked out well...

Can you please suggest some good aftermarket heatsink to overclock Q6600 to about 3.0-3.2 GHz? I was looking at something like OCZ Vandetta 2 or Vanquisher CPU Cooler
