I should know this and I have heard this song like 100 times.

It is an oldie, the only words I can catch are "Sing on.. sing for the ___ sing for the ____ and sing for the ____" I think... He may say dream or something else, it is hard to say. Lots of lead guitar, sounds maybe like Kansas?

Cheers,

cR

Actually, I don't think it was Aerosmith, I would have recognized Steven Tyler's voice..

Lyrics for Dream On...sounds like the song to me. it doesn't sound like the Steven Tyler of today either...it was before he smoked five packs a day and drank for 25 years.

Everytime that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin' clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dust to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay
I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life is in books' written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to you
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if it's just for tofay
Mabye tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
Dream On, Dream On
Dream yourself a dream come true
Dream On, Dream On
Dream until your dream come true
Dream On, Dream On, Dream On...
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tears

Sing with me, if it's just for today
Mabye tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

No, the guys are right - maybe someone redid it though?
The original one is Aerosmith.

Wow I am shocked, you are correct. That definetly didn't sound like the aerosmith I know. Anyway, thanks again, I'm sure everyone changes since 73 ;)

Yup, it's definitely Aerosmith...from early on in their career. Check out the .mp3 samples from the album via Amazon.com.

Linky.
