I'm having this problem with my YAMAHA CRW4416E and that is whenever i'm trying to write data to my CDRW, be it converting it into a data disk, or writing a music CD format, it always leaves a space/buffer of about 38MB in the initial portion of the CD, making that portion unusable. thus, i'm not able to listen to created music cds and i'm deprived of 38 MB of space whenver i'm trying to store data.

I'm currently using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4, and using firmware 1.0g for the yamaha drive.

If anyone can suggest a solution, it'd be much appreciated!

Not really sure what you are saying. Are you trying to listen to the CD with a regular CD ROM drive. If so there is not very many drives that will read a CDRW disk. You also need to close the session with ISO ---cant remember the number off the top of my head. With CDRW you lose quite a bit of the CD with the formatting. This should not affect not being to be able to listening to the CD. Are you using Direct CD??

Thanks fer your response Bleep...

actually, wat i'm tryin to do is to write .wav files into my CDR using my CDRW drive. The program i'm using is Easy CD Creator 4. It used to work on my old system, but when i got a new system, somehow whenever i try to write any data to any type of CD, be it CDR or CDRW, it always leaves an unused blank portion in the beginning of the disc, and then start writing approx. 1/8 of an inch from the centre.

so wat happens is that in the case of data, i waste about 38 MB of space, cuz it just doesn't wanna start writing there, and in the case of music cds, it plays fine on my cdrom, but once i use a cd player, it doesn't register cuz it can't find any form of data on the innermost ring of the CD.

hope this helps..thanx!

Cryptan:
The CD burner writes from the outside in, if you just put 1 or 2 songs on a CD you will see that there will be just a little space on the outside of the disc that has changed colors. My thinking on this is that the programming is not closing the session as it is not necessary to fill the CD. Put one of these discs that you have burned and put it in your CD Rom drive do not let it autoplay and do a properties check from my computer and post back what it says about the CD. one other thing, when you finish the burning session does the program tell you that it is ready to read on any CD player??
