Need help with case and cooling

Ok well I took my whole case out of the spot it was in my desk and put it on the ground with my housefan beside it pointing right at the video card and it hasn't done the spikes, so maybe it is a cooling problem now.

Did you ever do this? Re apply the thermal grease on the card? Use the Arctic Silver Ceramique or another non conductive TIM.
