Need help with an MP3 question

Does anyone know if mp3's degrade over time? I remember reading an article about this but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
 
It's all digital, unless something happens to the media that they are stored on (hard drive, cd, floppy, etc), so no.
 
Yes, it's kind of like those word documents that you open a year later & the characters are starting to fade, the page is wrinkled, etc.

I just remember reading something posted about MPEG layer 3 files losing quality over time. Your sarcasm isnt appreciated.

perhaps it was about them degrading each time they are reprocessed, a lossy format will lose quality each time you encode it (re-encode it/change the encoding level, etc)

Bingo. Each time you decode-encode and MP3, quality will normally be lost.
