All you asked was how they got damaged when it's the person that shipped it that probably caused it.

Other then that you never said anything about ebay issues so next time make your title go with what you are asking.

Yeah, it's our fault you provided almost no useful information in your original OP.

So is it insured?

KT

"Original OP" is redundant.

I use a spell checker and proper capitalization and people pick on my English all the time in here.

If you keep writing like this, get use to the criticism.

Relax I was not disrespectful. I am just saying that your OP was badly written and could have been made much better with very little efforts.

If you want people to help you, take the time to explain yourself clearly.

Uninsured = bummer. Although Fedex insurance is pretty fvcked up anyway.

Honestly, I think you are going to be on the hook for this. Even if you packed the laptop properly, even if the buyer is being disingenuous, Paypal almost always sides with the buyer in a dispute.

Yeah, I read the update. It will be interesting to see what the photos show. Ask him for photos of the box, also.

Once you accept a package from Fedex, you basically acknowledge that they did not mishandle it.

Unfortunately, yes, it's true.

A couple of years ago I had a job where I was, among other things, the shipping and receiving manager. I had plenty of interaction with Fedex.

Generally, it is incumbent upon the recipient of the package to file a claim with Fedex. Again, though, if the package was accepted, Fedex will argue that the package must have been in good shape.

Technically, you did your job. You shipped, the buyer accepted. The fly in the ointment is Ebay/Paypal. They are extremely buyer-conscious. Ebay would much rather lose you as a seller, than lose a buyer.

As a shipper, you are in a tough spot. Fedex "insurance" - even if you had used it - can be very difficult to collect on, especially over $100. In fact, if you Google "fedex insurance" you will see there are many complaints and much confusion.

I would say that if you can reach a deal with your Buyer, do it.

Really?

Hint: CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBER!

Now it makes sense why the OP did force the BUYER to pay for insurance or to explicitly agree that any damage would be his problem if he denied insurance. Come on, common sense.

$10 says OP doesn't have serial number recorded.

OP is probably screwed.

But what are the chances of him having the same Laptop? and he bought mine to do a quick switch?

Ebuyers have been known to make a quick switch, it has happened to me before. This guy might just be trying to get some money back. And tell him to cut his nails, the pictures of him holding that laptop show that this person clearly has fvcked up hygene. And if you want him to send back the laptop, make sure you dump a bottle of rubbing alcohol on it to disinfect it. The few hundred dollars you lose in this transaction is not worth getting his gonerrea infested laptop.

Just give it up OP, with that attitude, I'm surprised anyone in this thread is being remotely helpful.

Everyone who recieved there items yesterday (i sent out more than 1 laptop. total of 3) says there laptop came in clean and no problems at all. I contacted everyone by phone. When i called him his mom picked up and said he no longer lives with them. I emailed him 3 times with no response. WTH should i do now? I called FedEx and they said since my sister did the shipping label they can only talk to her about filing a claim. Am i Effed up? or can i do somehting about it?

This is what i recieved fgrom him:

the computer is badly damaged. all the plastic is broken off one corner including the screen, the fan is exposed and tore up, the hinge is messed up, it's wrecked. If i get a camera i'll send pictures tommorrow.

Now how the hell did the fan get exposed? and how the hell did it get tore up? I have now a D620...same laptop just different size....and im looking at it thinking...how the hell did the fan get exposed or even tore up!?

*UPDATE*

i was having trouble getting the internet to work, i don't know if it's the fan or not but it's all bent up. I'll send you pics tommorrow as it's as quick as i can do it, the parts (casing that broke off) were all in the box. Any ideas on what they'll do? Half of me just wants to go ahead and deal with it as it seems to be working ok, but there are problems with it, the screen is bent pretty bad when it closes. Like I said I'll send the pics tommorrow and we'll work out a plan. Just kinda sucks that's all.
