I have a E6600 core 2 duo, a pair of corsair 1 gig 800 ram chips and this board.
I built the system last week, with a 1gig XFX geforce 7950, a 75gig raptor and an enermax liberty psu 620 and so on. I bought the board, cpu and ram from monarchcomputer.com.
They have combo deals, so thats what I got. They sent it to me with the cpu installed and the ram installed as well. Now, the ram slotsare black and yellow, but the way they placed them in, was both sticks in the yellow. I checked on line and it said not to do that, so I placed them both in the A pair, closest to the cpu.
I built this up, and plugged it all in, powered it up, and everything was fine. But, I forgot to upgrade the bios. A few days later, I was playing EQ2, and the screen went black, at the same time a fan became loud. The fan that became loud was ,I think, the cpu fan once it crashed.
So, I checked here and at the extreme sight, found a hand full of similar issues, tried all those fixes and still the same thing. When I turn it on, all the lights work, all the fans work, there are no beeps at all, the hard drive turns for like a sec or less, then nothing, and everything in the tower works, but the CD drive will not open. On one of the fixes it said it might be the bios are set for 1.8 for the ram, and I have to set it to 2.1, which is what this rams needs, but since I cant get into bios, I cant fix that. All that happens is a black screen, as if the monitor is not plugged in. I did a mobo reset, took the battery out, reset it, and place it back in, plugged it in, and it did the same thing. I also took the ram out to see if i would get beeps, nothing, still the same thing, black screen, everything lights up, fans work so on and so forth. Think I should send it back, all of it, cpu, ram and board? Shouldnt they have placed new bios in it if the built it or does that mean just snap it all together but not run it?

Actually I think the ram install is incorrect.
If you only have 2 sticks of RAM, you should match the colours. Both in black or both in yellow. One in channel A and one in channel B. This enables the dual channel capability and in turn will allow the dual core processor to function as it should.

But it was working fine for 2 days before it just went black, as if the monitor cable was not connected. Do you think I can fix this with a cheap DDR2 stick thats 1.8v , boot with that, change the settings to 2.1 for my corsair, and flash the bios, all the things I should have done ofcourse, hehe, and then place my corsair ram back in. Do you think that might work?
I read a lot of posts in other forums about ti working with OCZ ram, but not so sure about corsair ram
