i am tryen to get my machine stable, and it seems perfectly stable, except for some reason it cannot run prime blend for more than like 3 minutes. everything else is fine, 3dmark, the other two prime tests, memtest. this is what i have done so far. i updated to 1004, thought that was the problem so went back to 1003. what is the best way to flash, use alt-f2, use dos with awdflash, or through windows? also i hear that you should clear the cmos after you flash a new bios?

then i loaded up the stock settings, set fsb to 201 and manually set the mem to SPD 2-2-2-5 with 2.75 volts. cant pass blend. is this a memory issue, should i try increasing the mem volts to like 2.85 and is that safe for the memory? also is maybe my mem getting to hot, what is a good way to check that? with it failing prime blend, i am led to believe it is a mem problem, but cant understand why it passes memtest86. also, maybe it is not loading up the correct vdimm voltage, is there a way i can check that in windows?

i am kinda pissed right now, and dont really know where to go from here, the computer runs stable as can be, gaming for hours and running super pi and pcmark04, everything is fine, just cant run blend. also i even switched the mem to different slots thinking it was that but still same thing. could this be a software issue of somesort?

any help would be greatly apprectiated? you can PM me if you dont want to go into on forum.

sorry if this is repeated stuff from other posts, i am just kinda frustrated.

thanks

Try 2.8. Those are rated for 2.8. And if everything else is stable, who cares what Prime says?

alright i will try 2.8.

also, i just remebered that i have the ez-plug pluged in but am only running one video card, do you think that this might be causing some issues, like the board is getting too many volts???

well the good news is that everything seems to run fine on your machine except for the prime test... So maybe there is a bug with the software .. Try reinstalling it .. can't hurt

Assuming that is not the problem.. I don't think the EZPLUG should matter much.. as it is really intended to ensure sufficient voltage is available to a 2nd card... but it should not cause any ill effect as the board only draws what is needed...

go to the corsair site ... and ask "the ram guy" for his opinion.. they are very good over there as well... They may suggest you loosen your memory settings to see if that helps... Have you tried running with the memory set to AUTO to see what it tries using ?and whether those settings run prime blend with no errors?

i tried running auto, but the board undervolts the memory and it runs like 2-3-3-5 or something like that, i know the 2 and 5 are right. when i set the volts manually to 2.75, then it set the timings to 2-2-2-5. i did not try running blend with the undervolted ones though. as for the ezplug, i am tryen to think if i got these problems when i connected the ezplug but for some reason i do think that is when it started, because i could run blend before that with no problem. i dont know, when i get home from work i am gonna try to unplug the ezplug, but i dont know really if that will help.

is there anyway to test specifically the memory controller on the processor?

also i ran memtest86+ for 7 hours and got 1 error in test 7 that had 8 counts. anyone know what that could mean, i got that 2.75v and 2-2-2-5.
