need help with a strange problem please

I have a workstation which all of a sudden is doing something I can't figure out. Its been like this for months now and its really bugging me so hopefully someone can help me out here.

1) Cannot ping this workstation (even from switch).
2) Tracert dies at workstation.
3) I can go out from the workstation no problem (ping, tracert, internet)
4) Firewall is disabled on Windows.

Any ideas? I know its the computer itself but I have no idea where to look...

well, system specs of the workstation would help immensely.

Here are the system specs:

Dell Optiplex 745
Windows XP Pro
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
Onboard NIC (think Intel)

Cant think of anything else that might be of use.

okay, are you running SP2? are the drivers all current? any errors in event viewer or device manager?
