I have a computer AMD64 3.0, MSI RS480M2, 1gig ram

The OS is installed in the 40 gig IDE C:Drive,

I accidently ordered a SATA secondary 160gig drive, instead of the IDE drive.

The bios recognizes the sata drive in bios, Windows XP sees the drive in the Device Manager. Windows explorer does not see the drive. If I go to management of "My computer" to disk management it does not see the drive.

I just want to use this Sata drive as a secondary storage device.

Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this?

When you go to disk management, does it ask you to write a marker to the new disk? Do a "rescan for disks" see what happens.

Could you go to the Manufacturers website and see if they have drivers or Installation
procedures for the SATA?

You have to go to the Disk Manager and activate the drive. This happened to me when I installed a third SATA drive using the secondary controller (Promise 378) on my motherboard.

The BIOS and Windows Hardware Manager would see the drive, but Explorer wouldn't. I then realized that you have to "activate" the drive in order to be able to format it. This isn't necessary when using the native (southbridge) controller.
