I'm not sure which movie it's from, but it goes something along the lines of, "The only thing left to decide is what to do with the time that's been given to you." I think that quote is correct, but I'm not 100% sure. Can somebody please tell me if that is right and if it isn't, please correct me. Thanks.

In the movie Gandalf tells Frodo that in Moria a few minutes before the Balrog scene, and then Frodo has a flashback of it right before he gets into the boat to leave the fellowship. Both times were in FOTR.

***Sorry, I misread your question. I'm not sure if that's verbatim or not.

Hahaha, I hate those class slogans. When I graduated I suggested to have our slogan be "everybody wang chung tonight." Better than those lame "inspirational" quotes.

Frodo:
I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

Gandalf:
So do all who live to see such times, but it is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world surely beside the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it, and that is an encouraging thought.

That is definitely the exact wording in the movie.

And

'I wish it need not have happened in my time.' Said Frodo

'So do I,' said Gandalf, 'and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. And already, Frodo, our timeis beggining to look black. The Enemy is fast becoming very strong. His plans are far from ripe, I think, but they are ripening. We shall be hard put to it. We should be very hard put to it, even if it were not for this dreadful chance.'

J.R.R. Tolkien,
Fellowship of the Ring, Second chapter, The Shadow of the Past

No. I'm not the editor of a high school year book and I don't want to know what this quote is for any reason in particular. I just want to know if what I quoted is in fact exactly what Gandalf said. Is there anybody out there who can answer my question.

LOL. This is ATOT, everybody out there should be able to answer my question.
:D

Didn't Gandalf say that to Aragon in ROTK? I'm pretty sure that's what he said.
