System Config
P4 2.4 Ghz
1 GB 1066Mhz RDRAM (OCZ)
Maxtor 133 7200RPM 80GB Hard Drive
VisionTek Geforce4 TI 4400 Video Card
Pioneer DVD RW
Sony 1.44 MB Floppy
Enermax 433w PS

I got XP Pro loaded and I can boot to it if I run at 100Mhz FSB & memory at PC 800. However, it runs extremely slow. At 1066 Mhz I get fatal OS errors and system will not boot. I suspect the memory so I am replacing with Kingston brand. However, I am also getting the other issues below:

Issues
1. POST screens do not display
2. Error message: BIOS not loaded because no drives detected
3. Floppy recognized but not usable by OS

I checked cabling, cleared the CMOS and reinstalled all of the coponents twice but maybe I missed something simple. I will try the new memory when it arrives. Otherwise, I will send the MB back and try again. If anybody has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks,

I don't know if I can be of much help, but here's a couple things:

1) The POST screen is hidden by the boot up logo. You can turn it off in the BIOS but it still flashes up on the screen too quick to read.

2) Download memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/). Its a nice little memory test program that boots up from a floppy. It might be interesting to see if you get errors at 1066. If you don't it may mean something else is screwed up at 1066.

Good luck!

I swapped out the OCZ memory with the Kingston brand. Everything is working beautifully now. Beware OCZ 1066 Mhz memory! Somebody else had the same problem so I am sceptical of their products for RDRAM.

Beware OCZ 1066 Mhz memory!

Where did you hear this? My P4 1.8 won't make it to 2.1 stable - maybe its my OCZ memory.

So will this work: up the FSB to 133 but lower the memory multiplier to 3. My CPU should be at 2.4 but the memory will be at 800 right? I wish I had a spare P4 to test this out. I'll be really pissed if the memory won't actually make it to 1066!!!

System Config
P4 2.26
512MB PC1066 (OCZ)
Dual WD800JB HD
Gainward Ti 4200
TDK 32x CDRW
Enermax 431w PS

I have tried loading Win2k about 10 times 10 different methods of approach with constant blue screens of death, stating that the Hardware config is bad or else drive is bad. The drives work fine in my old P2 450 so they are not the problem.

I am going to order some Kingston PC1066 tomorrow and send back the other memory. If it works OCZ is on the top of my bad hardware company list. Cuss this has been driving me insane.

I ran the mem software from http://www.memtest86.com/ and it fails misserbly

The OCZ memory is using Samsung PC1066-35 chips, which do not work at 1066 Mhz. Go with the Kingston brand. They are the only ones that will work at 1066 Mhz. I am returning my Samsung PC1066-35 chips and waiting on the Kingston brand to be shipped. Good luck.

How can you tell that the OCZ is using 35? I can see anything with the heat spreader.
