Everything I schedule with the win2k task schedule runs in the background. is there any way to run the tasks in the foreground? you schedule "notepad" to run at a certain time, and it sure does run, but you can't see it or access it, its completely in the bg. if you open the task manager, you can see notepad.exe running in the process list, but not getting any cpu time, and its not visible on the desktop

Huh? Looking where?

Jus'kiddin, I read this earlier but couldn't test it cause I was outta town.

But now I did the test and.... it comes in the foreground.

So you must have some specific thing going on.

I tested it with Calculator and Notepad and they both popped up correctly in front of everybody else. I even checked the priority and they were set to normal.

Maybe you have a "start new process and do not interfere with the existing one" setting somewhere. I've seen something like this before but I don't remember where. But maybe it was just for new browser windows.

Did you set the task scheduler as Adm and ran it as an User?

okay, perhaps the account has something to do with it, because I've tested it several times on my work PC (logged in as a user, not admin) and everything, calc, notepad, runs in the background, unaccessible.

I'll try from my home pc as administrator and see what it does

okay something is fubared because on my home computer as administrator it runs crap in the background as well :disgust: :|

The only thing I can think of is that you have some setting marked to do it this way. While I don't know of any setting like that, have you tried right clicking on the task(inside task scheduler) and checking the settings tab. Maybe you have some weird default.
