Need Help w/Iomega Zip Drive in Win2K!!!

i have an iomega zip 250 atapi internal drive that does not seem to work with win2000. it worked previously with win98 but whenever i connect it in win2000, it gives me a BSOD saying "inaccessible boot device". i can get it to detect at startup when i configure it to "auto" in the BIOS but i get that error right after the w2k splash screen everytime.

i've tried it on every primary/secondary/master/slave setting, but no go. i cannot figure this out, was wondering if anyone knew anything about this.

pm me if i should give more detail about the problem, hope this helps...

thanks in advance guys

Is that with a via Kt133A chipset? I remember some other people have reported simillar problem. My friend had the problem, he got rid of it by putting the zip drive on the raid port available on his mobo. You might want to head to viahardware.com

soorry forgot to mention the chipset. its an abit bx6 with an I440BX chipset. anything would be appreciated...

thanks

NT did this to me, getting the latest Iomega ZIP driver set from www.iomega.com and uninstalling / reinstalling fixed it.

Another thought would be mabye its a bad IDE ribbon? Or a bad drive?

i've tried reinstalling it several times, all with the newest version of iomegaware (which is pretty much universal for their zip/jaz products) but to no avail. also the drive was working before w/Win98 so i suspect its not that...

any other ideas, i appreciate any and all input

thanks

update: i can get the drive to detect and work if i plug it in after windows loads. it will then autodetect the zip 250 atapi and will work normally.

however if i were to restart the computer it would give me a blue screen again saying inaccessible boot device. am i right to assume that it is trying to boot from the zip drive? i have my bios set so that it boots from CDROM, C:, A:, in that order. why would it try to boot from the zip?

anyhelp or information would be greatly appreciated. as it is now, the computer works ok as long as i never turn it off or restart it and never crash. i would like to get it to work normally though seeing as it is not my computer and trying to help out a co-worker. i aslo called up iomega tech support, and it felt like i was talking to a wall...🙁

thanks in advance
