I have a HP ZE5185 laptop w/2.4ghz cpu, 512mb ram & 32mb ATI Mobility M6.
I'm trying to run Battlefield 1942 & am having troubles with the pc crashing with this game & others.
ATI claims they don't have a new driver yet. The one I have is a year old.
Cany anyone help?

it has the rv100 chipset which is based off the original radeon gpu
you can get the drivers from ati.com

ATI doesn't offer generic drivers for notebook cards.

The mfgrs, such as HP, modify drivers to go with their displays and any other on-board graphic goodies.

Check with HP support for a solution and/or newer driver.

as long as the chipset is the same on the card, as in this case, I don't see any reason why the desktop radeon driver wouldn't work
the manufacturers may modify the software or the other files that come with the driver but that's about it

Bf1942 is simply just a crash happy game, I can play Mafia and RTCW and never get a crash ever, but with Bf1942 it crashes every 1-3hours without fail.
