First off, here are my system specs:

1800+ cpu
Epox EP-8KTA3+ mobo
512 megs DDR ram
Visiontek GF4 Ti-4200
SB Live Value

I have two 60 gig IBM Deskstars set up as a single 120 gig RAID-0 partition and boot from it (WinXP). My system was working fine with my Visiontek GF3 card in it. I popped in the GF4 and it booted to standard 640x480 resolution. I downloaded and installed the latest Detonator drivers, and when I rebooted, for some reason it wouldn't recognize my RAID partition.

The only time this has happened before was when my BIOS reset itself and I just had to enter all the values again, enable the RAID in the BIOS and set it to boot from SCSI. When I go to the RAID BIOS, it shows the partition as being active, but when I boot normally, it won't appear at all.

Anyone know if the Visiontek GF4 cards conflict with HighPoint RAID controllers? It's the only thing I can think of. The only other device I installed at the same time was a 2-port USB 2.0 controller card. I'm about to remove that one first to see if it has any effect. After that I'll pop my GF3 card back in. In the meantime I'd appreciate any input from AT'ers who might know what's going on here.

Well I removed both the USB 2.0 controller as well as the GF4 card, and it still won't recognize the RAID-0 partition. :(

It sounds like there is a conflict with the Gf4 versus the onboard raid your using.

Also have you tried using differecnt detonator drivers ?

Have you tried checking to see if there is an updated bios for your motherboard and an updated driver for your raid ?

I've heard of some known issues with that SB live card. For giggles try taking the sb live! out and see if your problem doesn't clear up. If it does go do some digging on the internet. It's an old problem that I havnt looked at in a while, there might be a fix by now.

for what it's worth :)

Well, I took out both the GF4 card as well as the USB 2.0 controller, but it didn't have any effect on my system. I never had any problems with the configuration before.

The weird thing is that when I enter the RAID utility on startup, it shows the partition as being there. 2 x 60 = 120 gig....working just fine. I just can't seem to boot from it.
