In a few days I will be upgrading from a Celeron II to an A7V/Duron combo. I will be using the same components, including the hard drive. Is there anything I should do before I install the new mobo/cpu? Will I need to reinstall Windows 98? I hope I don't need to because I bought this Celeron system from someone and 98 was already installed and I don't have the CD.

You will definitely need to format and reinstall windows if you are swapping out motherboards. There is too much information that is different from one motherboard to the next. Good Luck.

You might not have to format or reinstall windows. I can't guarentee it though. I went from a bx board to a via133a to a via kt133 without a format.

For safety's sake it's best to reformat and reinstall when changing mobo. Especially when you are changing chipsets.

Just swap it and see what happens. Make sure you backup first. The worst that can happen is Windows won't run properly, and you'll have to reinstall. But you might as well first see if it works. If it does you saved yourself quite a lot of hassle.
