Need help upgrading an old notebook

I just picked up a 486/33 notebook and am looking to boost the performance on it. My question is do socketed notebooks use the same processors as desktops? I know that you can't pop a slot processor into a lappy, but do notebooks use the same processor as desktops in sockets? What socket would this notebook use and could I upgrade it to a 486/100? What about a 586/133?

Also, do the K6-2 notebooks use the same processors as desktops? My stepdad has a K6-2 266 notebook. Can I just pick up a K6-2 550 processor off of *bay or yahoo for cheap and pop it in that notebook?

no they are not the same. power requirements for notes are much strictor and the importance is on low power usage, with lower voltage supplied to CPU. It is very unlikely, if not impossible to simple pop in a sockets cpu in there and expect it to work. Also the CPU themselves have additional features added to help save power.
 
With a few exceptions (namely this laptop I'm currently using), most laptops aren't even socketed and do not use desktop processors. Also another problem with upgrades are heat generation. See if you can boost the 486 to 16 meg. (I don't tihnk that thing will be able to handle much more)
