Folks, If someone has any ideas, please let me know as soon as possible.

1st: bought new stuff, MSI K8N Nforce4 motherboard, 1gb ram, AMD 3200+ and a Leadtek 6600GT card.

I rip the old stuff out, cram the new in and boot up, expecting to have to re-install all. Windows actually loads and I enter Remove programs to cleanse the remnants of the old ATI 9700 card out and my old Nforce2 drivers out.

2nd: Now, all is well, the computer tells me to re-boot to remove the stuff, so I do.

3rd: Here, problems... Now, Windows wont start in any way and it tells me that a nvidia-driver something didnt load and thus nothing more...

OKI says I

4th: I plonk WinXP Home in and look forward to another long night of reinstalling and updating and so forth...

5th: PROBLEM! As it checks the computers config, and then begins to load as usual, it hangs in the middle of it and kicks me out into a black screen with a marker blinking on top and nothing more.

Now this is the state of the computer, if I try to load into windows -> black screen w marker, try to install/format -> black screen!

What to do? I even tried to install Win98 to format the damn thing but it didnt work due to NTFS.

Any suggestions people?

Hmmmm. Well, since the drive is fvcked anyway... Grab the Win98 disc, boot off of it, and run fdisk to remove the partition on the hard drive. So that it is a completely blank drive (aside from low leveling it). Reboot with XP, and start over, and see if you get any change in status.

Second question. Where are you replying from for this post. If you have another computer, use it to slipstream Windows, which makes installing a lot smoother. You can use a program like nLite, and it goes easy. If you have problems, let me know, and I'll post links (I'm at work, and I don't have access to my bookmarks here). Let us know if any of this works for you.
Tas.

Ahh, FDISK, that was the name... It was such a long time I did anything with Win98.

I'll try that, thanks!

BTW, the computer I use is my workcomputer.
