Hey! first post!

I'm trying to to do a complete WinME reinstalation on a Toshiba Satellite 2800 notebook from the Toshiba CDs and a "homemade" system disc.

let's say that so far I cant. 🙁

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Uhm why can't you? Was this cd made for laptops or desktops. Is it the same model computer you have? If not it has specific drivers on it made for your computer and it MAY (im not sure about this) cause your friends computer to not work..

it's all the laptop's original stuff.

the toshiba CDs are labeled recovery CD 1 & 2 but they just do nothing!

here's what happened: friend im computer programming class get's loan, gets laptop, happy happy joy joy, wants to watch DVD with laptop on TV, notices the TV-out driver is not installed, whips out toshiba CD and installs it, "do you want to reboot now" -yes!

poor sucka never came back online... 🙁

now here I am, offered to give it a shot before he takes it back to the shop tmr (that's what happens with this oem stuff -> gotta go back to see a "qualified technician&quot😉. I've been trying for close to 6 hours now.

try looking in windows/option/cab & you may find setup.exe in there. run it & it will overwrite your present ME installation. you won't need the disks if done this way. alternatively as it's ME, you could use ME's system restore function, assuming it wasn't disabled!🙂
