Hi and thanks for stopping by,
I have been working on trying to get this particular system up and running well for quite some time now. Here are the problematic symptoms, the system will occasionally was able to install windows XP pro, but then windows media player (could not open, said something like no audio codec) and other strange things like programs crashing. Most of these errors ultimately resulted in a memory misread error of the sort supposed to be at (hex addr 1) but read at (hex addr 2).
After encountering these problems I tried formatting and reinstalling windows and now after windows has copied all the files (reboots) and is about to begin the actually installation I get a blue screen error of the sort Fatal error (hex addr), or windows/system/system32/config is missing or corrupt. I have also gotten a blue screen with the message: page_addr_not_in_page_table.
I was pretty sure this was a RAM problem but I had 2 sticks to swap out and I got similar problems with both.
I would just like people to confirm a few things I think I can eliminate as far as the source of the problem is concerned:
1) CPU - my understanding is that if you system boots and runs at all then your CPU is just fine
2) Power supply - again if your system turns on and all your devices work (i.e. drives open close) then the power supply is fine
3) Hard Drive - Bios detects it fine, no bad sectors or disk read/write errors, files get copied to disk without problems
So that leaves the motherboard??
It?s an Abit nforce2 motherboard with built in geforce4mx video or ram
Or could it be that the addresses are being miscalculated by the CPU???
Any ideas are much appreciated!
Thanks,
Jon
