Apparently my brother has denied my permission to access his computer to get my files. I went back to go and try to renenable it but the private folder option is still ticked and I can't untick it. I then went and do a lot of stuff that I can't remember and I somehow manage to get it untick. However after reenable file sharing, parts or portion of the folders are still unaccessible for me. Why? How do I fix this so that I can go and get all of my files? Thx

If you map the C$ share as the Administrator, you should be able to get access to everything. I've always had trouble with that damn private folders thing.....

man this is really annoying me...Sorry but your command didn't work as I got a error 85 and it said the drive name is already in use. Is there a way to clear the private folders or disable it so that I can go and get the files? At the moment, I can't grab all of it and some of it I can get. I'm thinking of forcing my bro to format the computer to fix this problem, but I want to recover all my files before I go to format.

if you can make him format his comp why can't you get him to redo the permisions? or is it that you can't figure out how ? if it's the later and you have access to his comp , copy everything to the shared docs folder or another folder that is already shared.
good luck
