Hi,

This is my first build and unfortunately when i switch on the power nothing happens. I assembled everything as per the installation guide and tried taking power directly from the socket (coz i thought UPS was restricting) but still nothing happens. Any Help would be appreciated. The config is as follows

AMD 64 3200+
DFI Lanparty SLI-dr
Thermaltake Butterfly 480W
Twinmos 512x2
Geforce 6600GT pci-e
Sony Dvd-Combo
sony Dvd rw

As you have noticed... the psu is 20 pin. I read here (General Hardware) that you can use a 20 pin psu with a nforce4. When i plug it in nothing comes on. If the problem was with the pins then atleast the power supply leds and fans would have switched on rt? If anyone can

If im not mistaken, your DFI board needs 3 power leads in total connected to the motherboard. The 20pin, the 12v connector, and one molex connector. Are they all connected? Does your power supply have an on/off switch at the back? Is it on?

Yup. It needs three power leads. One main. (with the extra 4 pin for processor), One floppy type power connector and one 4 pin molex. I have connected all three. I connected all 20 pin wire into the 24 pin socket. If the problem was with the 24 pin then atleast the pwer supply fan and leds would have switched on rt? But there is no response.

Did you try pulling off the FP (front panel) connecter for the power switch and manually jumpering those pins? Just touch them for a sec with something conducting like a screw driver to elminate the case power switch as the problem. This is always step one for me when this happens.

Quick test to see if your PSU is working. Unplug it from your system components, take the main power lead the plugs into the mobo, and with paper clip or something like that, short the green (should only be one) with any black (grnd). If the fan starts to spin, then the PSU is fine. If not, you've got a PSU problem.

Yup. The problem was with the power switches. Luckily DFI has two ez power buttons on the bottom of the motherboard. Is there any way i can fix the front panel switch myself so that i dont need to take out the case everytime?

if you can pull off the front panel to get a closer look at the switch then go for it. If nothing's obvious then you're probably out of luck but if you can see a bad connection break out the soldering iron.
