Ok I am setting up the network at a friends house for his new computer. He doesnt have a wireless card for it yet and wont get one till next weekend and wants internet now. His whole house is wireless since he lives in the country and thats the only type of internet they can get. There is a wireless modem downstairs and his computer is upstairs but there is also a laptop and a computer downstairs. He also has a Belkin wireless router, some crossover cable and some cat5 cable. Can I use the laptop as a modem to give the new computer internet. I have the laptop right next to the new computer and have a crossover going to the new computer but can't get the internet to work I have ran the network setup thing in windows xp on both computers and now the new computer says it has a network but with limited and or connectivity. I also see that there is a firewall but I can't disable it. Could I plug the router into the new computer and have it pick up the wireless internet since it is wireless. Any help is appreciated.
