i have decided to convert my garage into a bedroom, now all i need is some software that can help me with this conversion. i need something that uses the dimensions of the room and lets me place different objects (bathroom, closet, bed, desk, tv) based on their sizes in different places. i searched download.com, but nothing useful came up. anybody here (there are a lot here) have any clues or ideas for me?

thanks a bunch.

Word of advice for converting a garage into a bedroom.....first, make sure you have city permits to build an actual room in your garage (if applicable), second, many fire codes exist for doing what you are doing....my dad did the same thing (he didnt do it himself) but the contractor had to get lke 5 permits, and the wall has to be a one-hour fire wall or something like that. Bottom line, make sure your butt is covered for all the legal stuff.

Get one of them fancy pencils with erasers at the other end. Oohh, and a thing called "ruler" I hear architects use these all the time and they get great results! :p

I had to do something like that a long time ago, putting a bunch of equipment into a limited space at work. I used graph paper and made a 2d scale model with some scissors. I just moved the little shapes around until I figured out what worked. The workspace actually worked pretty well after it was set up.

for those of you that really care, this is all going to be illegal. i have hired a contractor that has lost his license (very cheap) and day laborers from the local hardware stores (you know those guys that are looking for work that hang around hardware stores, paint shops, home improvement centers, etc.). All the materials will be bought from shady charachters, selling stuff from the back of their van and so on. you guys get the picture.

thanks for your help, i think i will try visio.
