Call SBC and make those fvckers tell you their secrets. You are paying for the CSRs make them earn their pittance.

They actually probably dont support your wireless as they didnt make the modem. They didnt 2 years ago at least.

Basically you just turn the wireless connection on via the modem and then have your wireless device connect to it

Do you have a connection through your wireless router via the cat5 cable? Don't go right to wireless...make sure you have a connection first.

I spent 40 MINUTES on the phone with 2 different techs the other night trying to get my DSL working. Would have been MUCH longer if I hadn't figured out what the problem was (had my PC set to a static IP address instead of dynamic IP) - the tech was totally clueless. Plus I had to keep from reaching through the phone & choking the Indian guy on the other end of the line every time he spelled out "ipconfig" (I'm a software engineer - it's not like I don't use these commands EVERY FVCKING DAY!!!!).
</rant>

BTW, to use a router with the 5100 modem, set the router to use a dynamic IP address (the 5100 modem has its own DHCP server). Do not use PPPoE (the modem handles PPPoE internally). You'll need to configure the modem with your login info (connect your PC directly to the modem and go to 192.168.0.1 to configure it).

My old modem didn't. For some reason they decided I needed a new one when I moved.
And I assumed that their craptacular software would make whatever changes it needed to (or at least TELL ME if something needed to be changed...)
