I just bought an Abit NF7-S V.2 and an AMD Mobile 2600+ with a Thermaltake Silent Boost HS/Fan. I'm using old memory from my last system 2x256MB PC2700, one question, is there anyway of testing the memory to see if it is really PC2700 because when the bios starts up it detects it as only 133mhz not 167mhz. I bought them seperately over the course of my last computer and I think that one of the stores might have sold me a PC2100 as a PC2700. When I installed the cpu I didn't look at the stepping so I don't know what it is.
When I first ran my computer it was running fine at 167x14 (2338) with the cpu volts at 1.6 then I decided to updated the bios to the latest one because one of the reasons was that in the bios it showed the cpu as a "Unknown Processor" well when I rebooted with the same settings win XP wouldn't boot it would say "couldn't load c:/windows.....ntfs.sys" or something to that extent. so I lowered the settings using the default cpu volts and the best I can find it runs on now is 150x16 and even at that my pc locks up sometimes. I really need some help I'll try anything I'm even thinking of going back to the old bios but I really want to do that as a last resort. I appreciatte any help I get
Thanks
