I am trying to set up an IDE Raid with my Gigabyte K8NS Pro mobo with onboard raid controller, i can set up the array with the 2 drives (2 seagate barricudas 120gb identical). But, when i try to install windows, it doesent detect and hard drives. Can someone point me to a guide or some quick tips, i tried loading the raid driver from floppy and got the same result. thanks

When you are installing windows, there will be a prompt to hit F6 to install drivers. You have to have a disk ready (floppy), and load the drivers with that so that windows can recognize the drivers to install windows on there... Welcome to the RAID windows install club. :)

see thats what I dont understand, i had the floppy with the drivers, and hit f6 during the beggining of install and it still says that windows does not detect any hard drives to install on.

Ahhhh. Are both of the drives set to 'master'? They have to be for most (possibly all) RAID arrays.

I am trying to set up the array, you need to do that first correct? Then do windows, but it only shows one of my 120GB hdds, instead of both of them as options in the raid array menu.

Hmmm. Well, it has to do something with the jumpers. Well, just in case, check the power connections and data connections, to make sure everything is good there. If that doesn't work, you said that one drive set at master, and one drive set as slave yields no drive visible, so try both in slave, and see if anything happens...

no luck with any jumper settings besides 1 master, 1 slave. Then it will let me set up the array, but windows setup wont let me use it because it doesent find it, so ill probly try a different version of the driver, a different floppy too, any other ideas?
