Alright I just got Digital Cable and HSI installed in my new apartment. We tend to watch a lot of TV and often times need to record shows, while watching others. I have a VCR and a Tivo. Unfortunately with the way the stuff is setup, it may not work right. They have the cable coming out of the wall, it then gets split, one line sent to the cable modem, one to the IN on the cable box. From there it goes out of the box and into the VCR, out of the VCR and into the the TV. With this setup it requires the VCR to always be on, not really a problem. The problem is that the VCR will only record the channel the cable box is on, thus I cannot watch one show and record another. Plus in order to even hook up the Tivo,I would have to split the line again, which results in a couple of lower power channels losing quality.

I do have another TV upstairs, unfortunately we gave the bigger bedroom to my son, since he has a bunch of stuff, thus the cable hookups are only in his room. I suppose I could set the TV up in there or just run the cable out of there into our room and then run it into the Tivo or VCR or both, not sure if that would work or not really. I do also have a tuner in my PC which would be nice to use, but if I can't its not a total bummer.

Both the cable box and the VCR as well as the Tivo have outputs(composite on all, Svideo is available on the Tivo and cable box. The tivo used to be using the Svideo out, so I could watch one show while recording another, it is still hooked up that way now to. I'm not sure if I can use the output from the cable box or VCR to do basically the same thing. If I could simply split the line once more then it would all be fine, but I would prefer nto to do that due to the signal loss. ANy help or input you can provide would be great, any other info you need I can provide, thanks.
