I have ws_ftp server. I'm in the process of trying to figure it out. I was reading a tutorial, but I still didn't understand for some reason.
Ok, I need to pick a hostname in the form of: host.doman.top I'm not quite sure what to put there. The dns suffix for my connection is user.msu.edu, but I don't know if that is what I want or not or if I want "my user id".msu.edu or just something else altogether. Then I'm guessing I just want to use my IP address for the IP address option. They said something about virtual hosts or something, but I don't think I'm going to mess with that.
Now config stuff.
I installed ws_ftp on c:\ although all the folders I will share will be on my d:\. I was asked to create a top directory for the host where all the user directories will created under. Does it matter where I put this since I don't want anyone messing with stuff that is on my c:\ and that is where it defaults to or does this have nothing to do with what users can access?
Lastly with user option do I want to have users log into home folders or /? And do I want to enable "use folders under root"
