Well heres the situation. Hes making my tshirts. I just got 2 prototypes from him the other day. I fine-tuned the design and other problems that i didnt like. He said that it could look better if i sent it to him digitally. He mentioned a pdf file.

I found this thing that converts files to pdf on the adobe site. Whatever it is, when i print it out its a shrunken version of what i started with in Word format. The design is in a 11x17 size, and the first time i sent it to him i just printed it and mailed it.

Anyone got any ideas how i can send him my design, in high quality, with out the computer that he opens it with changing the fonts? When i sent him the word files the first time, the fonts got screwed up. Plus when i sent him the font files they wouldnt work on his Mac. (bet you wont see that in their commercials)

Help please.......i wanna start selling these damn things but i need to get him the design. All i wanna do is send what im looking at right now to him. Is it really that hard?????

UPDATE

Hes working on a Mac, and the file prints out on 2 11x17 pages. I have no idea why or how. He can correct it if it was in mac format. Other than doing this on a computer in school, which is a pain in the arse, how can i send him a file using the fonts i need in mac format on a PC?

For graphics files, bitmap amd JPEG are standard formats that should work on a Mac as well as a PC. You can convert these images with MS Paint (in your programs menu) or use a better program, Irfanview. It's free and can find on download.com or google. It sounds like he doesn't have the same fonts installed as you do. This would be easy to solve if he was using a pc, but I'm not sure how to do it on a mac. Maybe someone has a better idea...

What's the problem with email. How about a free storage site. You can put up 25 megs of so ahd with your password he can download it. How about dc in irc.

Be careful of one thing though, If you're trying to send a file to somebody in a texas jail, the authorities will frown on it.

Thats funny, b/c when i put texas in the header i thought to myself, i wonder if anyone thinks im responding to that jail penpal thing.

Well the file is a word file right now. I can email it to him but the fonts get all screwed up and blah blah blah. I think hes computer retarted b/c those font files i sent him work for mac.

So i can transform a word file to a image file???? Using that free program?

I'm one of those annoying people who doesn't do graphic design work for free.
True Type and Type 1 fonts both work on Mac OS. PDF files will embed fonts so that you don't have to send the fonts seperately. That's kinda the whole point of using PDF files to print from, all the files are integrated into a single compressed file format.

If you had an actual graphic designer working for you, they'd have all the softwaare required to make a professional PDF file.

Like I said, a pro would have a copy of acrobat and they'd be able to make you a nice, high quality PDF file w/o problems.

Yeah, the professional version of Adobe costs a loooot of money. The reader is free, but not the creator software. I don't know of a way to convert a doc file to an image file other than a screen capture. Are you using a graphic and then text around it in Word?

Its a sentence of words vertically, then a picture at the bottom.

I'm bored so if you can e-mail it to me within 1 hour I'll host it for you on RossWorx.com

So all the guy (or any other Anandtecher) has to do is download your Word document from my website.

well the design is supposed to be on a 11x17 template. the second one is just a regular 8.5x11

The design should fit on one 11x17 sheet

And since rossman posted the links......im waiting for the comments on the t-shirt design. Oh yea not to sound like a lawyer, but its copyrighted. I paid my dues to uncle sam, so dont get any ideas. ;)

yea, the problem is that the first one gets split into two for some reason. i could not find an option to merge two pages in acrobat... but i only have version 4. perhaps somebody with more expertise or a newer version can provide some insight/help. i'll send you the second page in any event.

um okay i guess i am horribly inept... the font on the second one didn't stay with the pdf, even though i installed it and it showed up fine in word. *shrug* i'll give it another shot tomorrow... i've got some hw to finish up
