Need help -scratch

some ass hole scraped my car last night. Did not leave any contact info. Can any car experts look at the images below and let me know if I can just try fixing them myself or take it to a shop. It is a rental car and I have to return it next week.

I have already filed a police report and my CC should cover me for loss and damage. what do you think I should do. Forget about fixing it myself and just take it to rental and swap out a new car or try to fix it myself and let the rental company know something happened.

if I take it to a body shop how much do you think I have to spend.

do you think the scrape is all the way past the primer? Thanks in advance for your time
 
If it were me I'd fix it myself. Silver is pretty easy to fix. I could make it look like nothing had ever happened. But I have all the tools necessary. All I would have to buy is base coat. I even have a can of clear unused.

But you say your CC covers you? Maybe easier to go that route. How about insurance? You can ask around at body shops they should give you a free estimate.

If you don't have the tools and know how you shouldn't attempt it. You'll need a DA or rotary buffer, pads, compound, polish, primer, base and clear coat, sand paper, tack cloth, adhesion promoter if you go down to the plastic bumper, automotive laquer thinner, prep solvent all told it might cost you more than a body shop.

I read about quixx and scratchpro or something. thought it will be a good training exercise for me.

yeah I have full insurance as backup and also have the LDW from the Credit card.
 
Rental? Did you decline the $10 insurance? I'd never pay for body work on a rental car. You should be covered by insurance. No money out of your pocket. It is a rental. A rental. . .
