Need help running Chronicles of Riddick

Recently got a hold of an EU copy of the chronicles of riddick game. Installed it. Ran the 1.1 EU patch. And cant get it to run for the life of me
Ive reinstalled the game and applied the patch over a dozen times now and am still lost. Ive searched all over the web for the past 2 days now finding the same problem but no helpful answer for me. I have an:

alienware x51, Win7, Nvidia Geforce GT 555 graphics card with updated drivers.

If run from the desktop icon, I get the trademark screen and then the message "Game has crashed. Do you want to create a log?"

I then tried to run from the exe directly as one forum user commented. The first three loaded the trademark screen and then a runtime error message:

Runtime Error!

Program: ...StudiosRiddick EFBBSystem (rest of path to whichever exe I tried)

abnormal program termination


The fourth exe i noticed something odd. It is located in system/win64_amd64/ This gave me the same error as from the desktop icon. I am not sure exactly what this means.

Oh, and I have tried multiple uninstalls/reinstalls. Ive tried using revo uninstaller to search for any trace files that could be interfering. Ive tried all different sorts of compatability/ admin priveleges/ etc for each of the exe. Help would be appreciated, I loved this game when i was young and it first came out. Would really like to enjoy it again

yes i have.

Did you install the game as administrator and then patch it as administrator? Are you installing it to the default location? Are you absolutely sure you have an EU copy of the game? Can you run the default game before patching it?

Are you installing it to the default location? - Yes one time. Tried a different location the other time. Same result. It gets to the trademark screen and crashes.

Are you absolutely sure you have an EU copy of the game? - Yes

Can you run the default game before patching it? - Haven't tried. I'll give it a go and let you know
