I'm looking to buy a compact dishwasher. My fianceé and I are renting a house and while it's really nice, the kitchen is extremely small and there's no room for a full dishwasher. Still, we'd like to get something. Either a narrow unit that we could wheel over to the sink or a countertop one.

There is very little information about them, though. Consumer Reports only reviews full size dishwashers, and there were no websites I could find that offered comprehensive or comparative reviews of compact dishwashers. There seem to be ten times as many different models as there are reviews for them. I don't want to end up spending hundreds of dollars on what ends up being a piece of crap, but I have no idea where to look.

Anyone have personal experience, perhaps, that might come in handy? Or a website that just reviews appliances?

I had to Google to even understand that this could exist. I don't see its usefulness, since the prices seem to be exorbitant for what you are getting. You would have to do several cycles too just to finish with a large dinner...

Just put up with doing dishes by hand.

Well maybe that's why I want to do a little more research than two minutes of random Google searching before coming to a conclusion.

Try hiring an Asian dishwasher. I hear from another thread they're the smallest.

Smaller dishwashers like drawer style are typically used for glasses and delicate stuf that can't have spots in a bar type situatino, etc.
